Freak Athlete Hyper Pro X Coming 2026

We’ve owned every iteration of the Hyper Pro, and every other Nordic Combo Bench on the market for that matter. So when we showed up to HomeGymCon and saw the Freak Athlete Hyper Pro X, we were excited!

I am waiting on this piece to arrive, and then will be adding to the Review Pipeline.

Transparency Note

Eventually, I will get a Freak Athlete Hyper Pro X as I am a product tester, launch partner, and affiliate partner with Freak Athlete.

I’ve tested, broken, and provided feedback on a number of their products over the past several years. So expect me to tackle this with all the gusto I can.

Freak Athlete Hyper Pro X Overview

The Freak Athlete Hyper Pro X comes with a few unique features. As one person said “They fixed everything I dislike about my Hyper Pro. Now the question is, am I willing to spend the money to replace it? 🤔”

We’ve got the same regression options, footplate, u-shape front post, storage posts in the back, and more.

But now we have a uniform pad for the top that lets us perform back extensions and Nordic Curls without having to remove the pad. We’ve got a LOT less pop-pins, which makes this thing more aesthetically desirable, but also a lot less cognitive overload when trying to figure out what to do. The pop-pins are also upgraded, which means they don’t need any tension to lock them in, making them more likely to last a lifetime, not get stuck because the previous person over-tightened them, and it seemed to improve the stability as well.

We’ve got a new GHD pad that stores on the unit SUPER cleanly, but also pops off with a magnet and u-hook. The main rail adjustments work with a new latch system that is MUCH faster and cleaner, which will be a benefit in our space with multiple athletes.

The entire thing is also MUCH smaller, as you can see below. In a home gym, this means it can move around and be stored easier. The ABX leg developer is also now compatible with the Hyper Pro X, meaning you can hot swap them depending on your layout and needs in the gym, and no more debating which one is better.

I noticed pretty quickly that the stability of the unit was improved. To the point where I think the MAJORITY of people who complained about that before with the Hyper Pro, are going to be very happy here.

Freak Athlete mentioned that if you have recently ordered the Hyper Pro, and want to explore the Hyper Pro X, you can do so by taking advantage of their return process. My gut tells me that you can probably lean pretty hard on that, as they aim to please. I don’t know that I would be jumping to replace my Hyper Pro anytime soon, but this does appear to be better. How much better? We’ll find out later this year.
