Freak Athlete Adjustable Dumbbells Coming 2026

We’ve been collecting Adjustable Dumbbells this year as part of a larger project to look at the BEST options on the market. Specifically focused on heavy options (100lb minimum). We were pretty close to crowning a champion, and then the Freak Athlete Adjustable Dumbbells came to HomeGymCon and made us question everything.

I am waiting on this piece to arrive, and then will be adding to the Review Pipeline.

The Freak Athlete Adjustable Dumbbells have been in the works for awhile (inside scoop), but made their first appearance at HomeGymCon 2026. We were some of the first to sneak in and get a first look at them.

They are based on the new SNODE design with their own tweaks (they licensed parts from SNODE). They come in up to 120lb pairs and are adjustable in 5lb increments with no adder plates necessary. They are quick adjust with a twist of the wrist, and are rated for drops without any issues. They are also cageless, meaning they look and feel like normal dumbbells.

The knurling was somewhere in the middle range, not as passive as the NUOBELL-S that we have, but not as aggressive as some of the others. They measure in at 25mm, which again, is somewhere in the middle for size. For dumbbells that go up to 120lbs, you often need a slightly larger diameter to not create pain points in the hand.

Lifetime warranty up to a 39in drop, which should be good for everything outside of dropping it from overhead. The optional dumbbell cart has wheels (YAY) and is built from 3×3 and 1″ hardware, so it can be used for storage, include add-ons, event have items mounted to it like a rack would.

Other Options On The Market

For the larger adjustable dumbbell sets, we’ve got a few solid options. The REPx-Peppins go up to 120, which are some of our current favorites. But they have a cage, and don’t adjust in 5lb increments (without adders). The NUOBELL-S adjust in 5lb increments, but only go up to 100lbs, their stand is also pretty terrible. Ironmaster has the HEAVIEST options on the market, alongside Powerblock with their commercial set. So if you need more than 120, those might be your go-to option, but they are less reliable for drops, slower to adjust, and have some other unique design choices.
