REP Strive Series Curved Treadmill Overview

Most of the manual treadmills on the market are geared towards runners and providing a more natural experience. They encourage a better gait and heal to toe strike that translates into better running mechanics when you get the road, trail, or track.

But REP decided to take it up a notch and add a resistance feature. This not only gives you the ability to have a little fight in the run, something that even several people at HGC mentioned felt more natural to them. But it also gives you the ability to mimic a sled with the resistance. And boy howdy do we love some sleds at our place.

This would give us the ability to train sled work in all weather conditions, rain or shine, and require no set-up. Obviously we lose the portability of the sled, I’m not dragging my treadmill to the park for soccer practice, but this is a pretty cool feature I had never thought of before. Something that even has me considering a treadmill for my own gym. Weird words for sure.

The REP Strive Series Curved Treadmill claims to have a few key features that make it the BEST Curved Treadmill on the market.

  1. Sled Resistance – More resistance range than any other model
  2. Adjustable Deck Angle – Switch between Sprint mode for HIIT or Work mode for endurance and sled training
  3. True Running Feel – Fully disengage the sled function for a smooth, fast belt
  4. Modern Consoles – Custom REP console up top, plus a mini-console near your feet for sled mode visibility to provide the info you need at a glance
  5. Versatile Training Options – Simulate uphill walks or backward sled drags—all on one machine, no power required

Why a curved treadmill?

The curved belt design mimics the natural motion of running, encouraging proper form, reducing joint impact, and promoting a more effective workout. If you have ever walked UP a hill, this is a similar concept. It requires you to fully engage the posterior chain including the glutes, hips, and hamstrings, which are some of the biggest muscles on the body. These huge muscles burn a LOT of calories, and produce a LOT of power. Plus the REP Strive Series Curved Treadmill has 8 levels of adjustable resistance so you can easily transition from sprints to heavy sled drags and multiple positions in between.

REP Strive Series Curved Treadmill FAQ

This was a great chat I had with the team at True Form if you are interested in the WHY of Curved Treadmills.

Why would someone want a curved treadmill over a flat motorized treadmill?

1. Natural running experience: Curved treadmills mimic the natural motion of running, allowing for a more ergonomic experience. This can make your workout feel more like running outdoors.

2. Increased engagement: Curved treadmills require you to use your own power to propel the belt, which can lead to a more intense workout. This self-driven mechanism can keep you more engaged.

3. Improved form and technique: Running on a curved surface encourages better running form, which can reduce the risk of injury and promote a more effective workout.

4. Higher caloric burn: Some studies suggest that users burn more calories on a curved treadmill due to the increased effort required to maintain speed and control.

5. No electricity needed: Curved treadmills are often non-motorized, meaning you don’t need to plug them in. This makes them more versatile and can be placed anywhere or even moved outside to get sun while training.

6. Durability: They are generally built for heavy use and can handle intense workouts without the wear and tear that can affect motorized models.

7. Lower impact on joints: Many users find that the design of curved treadmills offers a softer landing, which can be easier on the joints than some motorized models.

8. Versatility: They can be used for various workouts, including sprinting and walking, making them suitable for different fitness levels and goals.

What are FTMS-Compatible third-party apps?

FTMS-compatible third-party apps are fitness tracking applications that use the Fitness Machine Service (FTMS) Bluetooth protocol to connect with exercise equipment, allowing users to monitor and analyze workout data in real-time.

Can you use the REP Strive Series Curved Treadmill outside?

Yes, feel free to wheel it outside on nice days — but definitely don’t use or leave it outside in inclement weather.
