Edge Fitness Systems SSB Review

The Safety Squat Bar is one of the first specialty bars people often look to. For good reason. Alleviate shoulder issues, train the upper back, and more. Even guys like Chad Wesley Smith who don’t prescribe many specialty bars, like the SSB. Today we look at the Edge Fitness Systems SSB.

Key Notes

The Edge Fitness Systems SSB was at one time the perfect garage gym SSB. American Made, budget friendly, and ready to take a beating. They have stopped producing this bar however.

Edge Fitness Systems SSB Video Review

Edge Fitness Systems is a small American shop who focuses on heavy duty, but NOT overbuilt equipment. Their stuff is built to last, but you won’t find them pushing anything that isn’t entirely necessary. Their powder coat is phenomenal. Even after years of abuse, it still looks good. MUCH better than the junk Rogue uses.

And their equipment is built based on years of abuse from themselves and local athletes in the Ohio region. They still make high quality powerlifting equipment for some of the US’s strongest athletes. I’ve put my bars through chains, bands, drop sets, 500+lbs, and much more. After multiple years of use (and going through a bunch of moves in the time), the Edge Fitness Systems SSB is still one of my favorite bars. There is a good chance it will stay in my gym for the long haul, even if I add additional bars.
