Buy THIS Leg Developer For Your Home Gym In 2026

Last updated on January 5th, 2026 at 07:23 pm

Leg Curls and Leg Extensions have been a staple in my routine for well over a decade. After I first learned about pairing Leg Curls with Squats via John Meadows, I never looked back. And Leg Extensions are just a fundamentally fantastic supplement to a heavy diet of Squats and Deadlifts. But including them in a home gym can be tough. We rarely have room for a dedicated machine, so instead we need to rely on a Leg Developer attachment for an adjustable bench.

The problem is that these vary GREATLY in terms of their abilities. Lucky for you, I’ve used almost every single one of them, and I’m going to share my thoughts here today so you can grab the right Leg Developer for YOUR Home Gym.

What Is The BEST Leg Developer For A Home Gym?

FreakAthleteABX LegDeveloper

The Freak Athlete ABX has the best Leg Developer that I have used to date. It can be plate loaded or cable driven. It has adjustments for multiple sized athletes. And has features like handles, curved pads, wheels, and more that bring us VERY close to a commercial machine.

What Makes A Good Leg Developer?

InspireFT2 LegDeveloper1

The basics are that we want Lying Leg Curl and Leg Extension options. From there we would ideally have adjustment options for the leg rollers so we can set them up correctly for multiple sized athletes. Having the option for plate loaded AND cable driven is great, because it gives us multiple options. Cable driven is ideal the MAJORITY of the time, because it can typically include a cam and have a most consistent strength curve than plate loaded.

I like to see handles to help you hold yourself in place during heavy leg extensions. I like to see finishing touches like knurled knobs, chromed weight posts, and a solid powder coat. Built in storage and mobility is a plus for larger options as well.

There are some additional features that are hard to know if they work well, without handling them in person. Sometimes the rollers are in poor positions, or the levers are too short, or the pivot point is off and it creates problems. Even misplaced nuts and bolts can cause problems with rubbing on the legs. This is why ideally, you get to handle them yourself. But luckily I’ve handled a LOT of them for you, so I can share my experience.

Other Leg Developer Options

There are a lot of options out there for Leg Developers that range from trash to high quality. The MAJORITY of those require you to buy a specific bench. So you’ll need to consider that as you explore this topic further.

Ironmaster Leg Attachment PRO for Super Bench PRO

IronmasterSuperBenchProV2 LegDev

The Leg Developer is fairly straight forward. You need to angle the bench slightly to get it to work, but this makes sense as leg curls you typically want that angle anyway. For leg extensions, this lets you kind of WEDGE IN to the pad a little and tends to solve for the starting position problem of the strength curve of most leg developers.

Without the backrest we also get the possibility to experiment with some lying leg extension options. I was able to load this up well past the 225lb weight limit, and overall it worked well. But it is a very old school design, with no cable attachment connections, a horizontal weight horn, and VERY limited adjustment options.

Prime Smart Arm

PrimeShortyAdjustableBench SmartArm1

The Prime Shorty Bench does not have a bench attachment Leg Developer, but it does have the Prime Smart Arm. This is a master class in taking commercial equipment and rebuilding for a home gym environment.

But there are some key considerations when thinking about the Smart Arm. Set up, space, and cost are a big factor. You also likely need to be fully bought into the Prime Eco-System for this to work fully. But if you are a home-gym-bodybuilder looking to maximize a small space, this is a top contender.

Inspire SCS Leg Developer

InspireFT2 LegDeveloper

The Inspire SCS Bench has a leg developer attachment that connects directly into the Inspire FT2. This was one of the primary reasons we added this entire system to our gym several years back. This means no need to load plates, as the entire thing is cable driven, and runs off the built in stacks.

The downside here is that it requires a hefty investment into an outdated system such as the Inspire FT2. It also means if you are a stronger athlete, you’ll need some Gym Pins to load up extra plates. But this was our favorite option for leg extensions and leg curls for multiple years.

Powertec LEG LIFT-CURL ATTACHMENT

It has been quite a few years since I handled the Powertec Leg Curl/Leg Extension attachment. So cut me some slack on the production quality of that video. This is similar to the Inspire FT2 piece, where the only reason to own this attachment, in my eyes, is if you plan to buy into the Powertec Levergym system. It is a FANTASTIC system by the way, but you definitely need to make this jump to get the most out of the attachment.

Buzz-Saw Heavy-Duty Adjustable Bench Leg Extension/Leg Curl Attachment

BOSBuzz SawBench LegDeveloper

Bells of Steel has one of the most rock solid, heavy duty adjustable benches on the market, that also takes attachments. Their Leg Developer is the only current offering from one of the major home gym equipment companies on the market.

Unfortunately, we have an outdated design, that seems to be slapped onto a bench that was never meant to take attachments. You can load this up fairly decently well, but stronger athletes will struggle, and bigger athletes will struggle even more. If you are Canadian, this should be a top contender for the sake of budget and ease of access.

BulletProof Isolator

BulletProofFitnessIsolator Resized

This one is a little different because it isn’t ONLY a Leg Attachment, but I think it deserves a quick nod here. The Isolator gives you damn near unlimited potential, in a decently small package. This includes the ability for leg extensions, leg curls, seated leg curls, standing leg curls, and MUCH more.

The problem is that the Isolator does so much. Yes, you heard me. It does a near infinite amount of things, which means you need a different lever arm, different hole setting, different spot on the rack, different weight setting, different… you get it… for every movement. On top of that, we run into similar problems as the Prime Smart Arm, as it eats up an upright. So if you want to pair leg curls with squats, no go!

Gentleman Fitness Universal Leg Developer

GentlemanFitnessUniversalLegDeveloper

The Gentleman Fitness Universal Leg Developer is a great concept, as it is meant to be a universal attachment for ANY bench. This means you get leg extensions and leg curls with whatever bench you currently have, no attachment port needed.

Unfortunately, I struggled to use it for full range of motion leg curls, and anything pasted 3x45s for leg extensions. It has some great storage and mobility details built in, and the overall construction is fairly well thought through. But it is not stable and ended up scratching my bench in use.

Freak Athlete Hyper Pro Leg Developer

FreakAthlete LegDeveloper

The first NON bench attachment solution, comes to us from Freak Athlete for their Hyper Pro. The Hyper Pro is a posterior chain powerhouse, giving us Nordic Curls, Back Extensions, Glute-Ham Raises, and more. But it ALSO has a leg developer attachment that can unlock Leg Curls and Leg Extensions.

I worked with the team on feedback for this, and pushed them to include a cable attachment option for it as well. This was my FAVORITE Leg Developer for my home gym until the ABX Leg Developer showed up. It will require you to purchase the Hyper Pro, and it isn’t perfect, but it is very good.

Bolt Fitness

BOLT LegDeveloper

BOLT Fitness makes a Leg Developer for their Venom Series benches. I’m not so much intrigued by their bench offering, as I am by the fact that you can add these attachments to various other benches, like the REP Nighthawk.

The attachment has some decent features like adjustments for multiple athletes, chromed weight horns, and more, but I’m not 100% sold that this is a solid solution based on the pictures. It will work until we get the real deal (below).

REP Fitness Leg Developer

HomeGymCon REPLegDev

The REP Fitness Leg Developer was demoed at 2025 HomeGymCon and it was a big hit. For those that currently own, or have been considering, grabbing a bench from the KING of Home Gym Benches, REP Fitness, this is an item we have been waiting for.

REP talked about this several years back, and it finally surfaced in early 2025, with a debut planned for late 2025. If you own a REP bench, this is probably going to be a no brainer.

Dialed Motion Leg Developer

DialedMotionLegDeveloper HGC SeatedLegCurl

The Dialed Motion Leg Developer was showcased at 2025 HomeGymCon, and it took home awards and the praises of a number of attendees and reviewers. It promises to offer Leg Extensions, Lying Leg Curls, Seated Leg Curls, and Preacher Curls.

I’ve chatted with the team and asked for Standing Leg Curls as well, and we’ve heard rumors of possible triceps options too. This thing promises to be the PREMIUM option for home gym owners, with a ton of customization, but at a VERY high price tag.

Wrap Up

I think a Leg Developer should be a MAJOR consideration when purchasing an adjustable bench for your home gym. I know that I wouldn’t buy one without that being factored in.
